In printing, bleed is printing that goes beyond the edge of where the sheet will be trimmed. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies. A safety margin refers to the zone between text and graphics that are not meant to be trimmed off the printed item. Ideally, the safety margins should be set at .25 inches from the edge of the design.

Creep is where the bulk of the paper in a saddle stitched booklet causes the inner pages to extend or creep further out than the outer pages when folded. These files will need to be setup to create creep so that page numbers and other information is not cut off during the bindery process. As a rule of thumb, the first four flats (a flat is a front and back of a page) are safe, the next four flats should have .0625 inches towards the spine, and the next four flats have .125 inches towards the spine.

A web press is typically used for very high-volume printing such as for magazines and newspapers. Web presses are much faster than most sheet-fed presses and use a giant roll of paper. Sheet-fed printing is a method in which individual pages of paper are fed into the machine. This printing method is popular for small and medium-sized fixed jobs such as limited-edition books.

Matte paper has a more muted feel to it. ... Because matte paper changes less under the light, they also have more of a "flat" feel than gloss sheets. Glossy Paper have a shiny look, that reflects light, and you get vibrant rich colors, which makes the color in your images pop on the sheet.

We prefer packaged Adobe InDesign files, high resolution PDF’s with bleed, and Adobe Illustration files. These file types have the most information to properly perfect your job! However, we also accept Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and other file formats.

The colors on a monitor’s screen is set in RGB (red, green, and blue) and typically a printed piece is in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) or Pantone® colors. Since the same system of colors is not used, the colors will vary.
